Alternately, you can contact your ISP, and they will be able to tell you what the address is. Use the IP website (), and the address will be displayed as soon as the page loads. You may also find out by using your Internet Explorer, if you have access to the Internet. This address will be displayed somewhere within the setup menu of your router, under ‘Status’ or ‘WAN’. If you are unsure what your WAN IP address is, there are a few ways to find out. This is the one that if given to you by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Make sure that these entries are saved and/or enabled (depending on the router) before continuing. If this option is unavailable, select ‘TCP’ for port 80, and ‘UDP’ for port 6100. If there are options to use TCP and UDP protocols, select the option for ‘Both’. Still, set up two entries, one from starting port 80 to ending port 80, and starting port 6100 to ending port 6100. Some routers will have the ability to forward a range of ports. You will need to forward both of these ports to the LAN IP address of your DVR, using two separate Port Forwarding entries.

Since every router is different, please consult a Port Forwarding website () for specific instructions on how to setup port forwarding for the specific model of router that you are using. You are simply telling the router that any incoming traffic on a specific port or ports should be routed directly to the DVR using its LAN or Private IP address. The other part of it is creating a path through which your users can connect to the DVR from outside of your LAN through your router.
